Praying the Rosary
The Rosary is a Scripture-based prayer. It begins with the Apostles' Creed, which summarizes the great mysteries of the Catholic faith. The Our Father, which introduces each mystery, is from the Gospels. The first part of the Hail Mary is the angel's words announcing Christ's birth and Elizabeth's greeting to Mary. St. Pius V officially added the second part of the Hail Mary. The Mysteries of the Rosary center on the events of Christ's life. The repetition in the Rosary is meant to lead one into restful and contemplative prayer related to each Mystery. The gentle repetition of the words helps us to enter into the silence of our hearts, where Christ's spirit dwells. The Rosary can be said privately or with a group.

Divine Mercy Chaplet
Sister Faustina (Helen Kowalska) came from very humble, simple beginnings. She was born to a simple farming family in Poland who struggled through WWI. At almost 20 years of age, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, whose members devote themselves to the care and education of troubled young women. Sister Faustina had only 3 years of simple education, so her work in the convent was usually the humblest of work; tending the garden or working in the kitchen.
On February 22, 1931, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, appeared to this simple, humble woman bringing with Him a wonderful message of mercy for all of mankind. The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. The Chaplet is recited using ordinary rosary beads of five decades. To learn more of Christ's message through St. Faustina or how to recite the Chaplet click the button below.
