There's an App for that!
Laudate is a fantastic single-source app for a variety of Catholic needs. But what makes this app truly shine is it’s
price-tag: free. There’s no excuse not to download this great app, even if it’s just for the prayer content. There is so much
available for the faithful smart-phone user that I recommend it to everyone. And once you download it, you’ll definitely find it to be an important tool in your Catholic app arsenal.
Mea Culpa – A Catholic Examination of Conscience for Confession This is an incredible app for it’s for it’s simplicity, beautiful design, and ease of use! It has a great layout that features a “Dashboard”, “Venial Sins” tab, “Mortal Sins” tab, “Committed Sins” tab, and “Settings” tab. By organizing the app this way the user can see a list of sins according to their severity and recognize even the smallest sin’s impact on their spiritual life. This app also boasts a “Confession” mode (found in settings) that allows you to have the rubrics of confession integrate with the sins that you have already identified that you committed. Lastly, and possibly most useful, it has a “Passcode” function that enables you to lock the app.
Scriptural Rosary App
This is a beautiful & prayerful app. Praying the Rosary while meditating on a small selection of Scripture at each recitation of a “Hail Mary” is extremely intimate and prayerful. The user interface is clean and easy to use. One interesting feature is a small button that looks like a “wifi” icon in the middle of the screen (once you begin praying the Rosary). This button is actually a Share button that enables you to share the Scripture verse of that part of the Rosary via a multitude of social networks & other applications including: E-mail, Facebook, Twitter, SMS, Evernote, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Foursquare, and more! I think this is a great feature for sharing Scripture with others while you pray.
Divine Mercy App This is an amazing app brought to you by the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception. It includes a wealth of information about St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy Devotion like a quick biography, popes that have encouraged the devotion, and the Dairy of St. Faustina herself. It also includes the Divine Mercy Chaplet, images, and extra prayers for the devotion. My favorite part was the Way of the Cross feature that included excerpts from St. Faustina’s diary so you read Jesus’ message to her and her response in light of the Station of the Cross – POWERFUL!
Catholic Mass Times The Catholic Directory App will help you quickly find the nearest churches, Mass Times, Web sites, Maps, Directions, Staff, Bulletins, and other important information.
These are just a few examples of the many Catholic Apps available for your smart phone. Find more by clicking the Catholic Apps button below.
